Cash usage increases, gold and crypto value also up, plus find some old cash
News Uncut's money round-up

Cash usage is up
WE ARE hearing news from readers that some supermarkets are planning on going digital-only soon. We haven’t been able to confirm it but one thing we know is that, if they do, they will get more of a backlash from customers than they expected.
According to figures from Nationwide this month, cash has increased for the third year in a row, with nearly 33 million withdrawals made from Nationwide ATMs last year. Withdrawals by non-Nationwide customers are up 16 per cent.
Admittedly, part of this is because other banks have been removing their ATMs, but cash withdrawals also topped £1billion at Post Offices in December, marking the first time on record that this has happened in a single month. The Post Office recorded £979m-worth of personal cash withdrawals in December and £35m worth of business cash withdrawals.
So cash really is king, even in an increasingly digital UK.
Can you spare £3.50 a month? Or maybe £30 a year? That will provide full access to News Uncut’s content – including the remainder of this money round-up – and will help us grow stronger in our bid to bring you more information the mainstream media refuse to report. Thank you.
