Slandering and demonising of the Canadian truckers

How mainstream media has tried to taint the valiant efforts of those who bring hope to millions

ON SUNDAY, January 30, if you watched the 6 o’clock news in British Columbia, Canada on the most watched station in the province, a show that I directed for eight years by the way, until my recent firing from Global News, there was not a single story about the massive Freedom Convoy, not one.

If you dropped on to the planet that very day and that newscast was the only thing available for you to watch, you would never know that a world-record breaking convoy of semi-trucks that stretched 70 kilometres, (43 miles) and up to 18,000 people descended on to Canada’s capital city Ottawa, to protest vaccine mandates. Not a peep. Not a peep about the hope and inspiration these truckers have given to Canadians and people all over the world.

Crowds of hundreds gathered on every overpass practically throughout every city across Canada from Langley, BC to Sudbury, Ontario and beyond. People lining up waving Canadians flags, banners and signs cheering the truckers on.

When the nurses were fired, no one stood up. When small business shut down, no one stood up. When seniors were locked up in care homes and kept apart from loved ones, no one stood up. And finally when the mandates hit the truckers, they said “truck you”.

And then by Sunday night the mainstream media hit back, they started to cover the Convoy because now they had something, a weapon to demonise with; someone had draped a flag over the Terry Fox memorial statue and the media said, “thank you Jesus”!

They ran the picture of our beloved Terry, the Canadian athlete, humanitarian and cancer research activist, over and over on a loop in the news making it look as if the truckers had done it. Before they even got to Ottawa, Global TV reporter David Akin had reported the truckers might have guns, some were white supremacists and that they wanted to incite a January 6 type of insurrection. The TV news questioned why Prime Minister Justin Trudeau would even want to come out and talk.

Then came the slandering and demonising of the cause that gave hope to so many.  They say one bad apple doesn’t spoil the whole bunch, but it did.

Social media began criticising the truckers and pegging them as disrespectful. The one-sided media onslaught demeaned the valiant efforts of many truckers who brought their families and drove across the country in freezing cold temperatures.

I talked to three truckers at the scene and they all thought it was revellers who draped the flag. They said none of the truckers would have done that and they do not condone the behaviour. At 2am some truckers were cleaning up the area.  I spoke to an organiser of the convoy Leanne Carter, who told me there were lots of partiers there too. Who knows who did it? Maybe they should come forward? It is all a distraction as to why the convoy is there in the first place, ending mandates, which brings us to our Prime Minister.

At first Trudeau claimed he was exposed to Covid, felt fine but had to hide away. He would not come out and talk to the thousands of concerned citizens and truckers on his doorstep. On Monday morning the banner on CTV read “Trudeau Condemns Actions of Protestors” and orders them to stop protesting and go home. In the meantime, in Nova Scotia, the premier, Tom Houston, declared it was illegal to cheer the truckers on and put a ban on citizens waving and cheering. Have you ever in your life heard of anything so undemocratic and ridiculous?

But why do the mainstream media here in Canada act in such a horrendously biased way? It has been reported by Ezra Levant of Rebel News that Trudeau gave newspaper bailout money to Canadian newspapers to the tune of $60million. As for broadcast television, $61m was handed out in secret payments.

One thousand 500 hundred of those news outlets took the cash and, as a result, that is about 90 per cent, so in Canada the overwhelming majority of all mainstream media are on the proverbial Trudeau dole. Radio stations are also questionable because here in BC, CKNW Newstalk is owned by Corus Entertainment (Corus Premium Television Ltd.) Corus owns Global TV also.

This is why the Convoy is tainted and stained, make that pee stained. Reporters here are playing up public urination too. And now many Canadians think the protestors are violent, racists, eating food from homeless shelters (they’ve actually been donating food, one of the volunteers, Laurie, called to tell me that) and all the good and all the hope they have given people, desecrated by mainstream media like Global TV, CTV and CBC with their biased, unbalanced reporting.

And so here we are, unless you are independent, all mainstream media are vaccine salesman and nothing more than a mouthpiece for the government. That’s right, you’re a Trudeau journalist.
