Why free speech in the UK is not really free speech
Starmer's insistence that it has been here for "a very long time" and he is "proud of it" shows he is gaslighting the public and his position continues to be untenable

THE words left the mouth of Keir Starmer like butter wouldn’t melt: “We’ve had free speech in the UK for a very long time and I’m very proud of it.”
The UK Prime Minister was speaking during a visit to The Oval Office in America. US Vice-President JD Vance had just reiterated his argument that many people had been jailed for comments made on social media – a clear affront to free speech in the UK.
Here’s what JD Vance (above) said on February 14:
“In Britain and across Europe, free speech I fear is in retreat. In Washington, there is a new sheriff in town and under Donald Trump’s leadership we may disagree with your views but we will fight to defend your right to offer it in the public square, agree or disagree.”
